Enrolling a Member in COBRA

Send a qualifying event notice for:

  • A new hire that elects health coverage
  • A newly covered employee
  • Any newly covered spouse or dependent
    • some examples of the categories of employees include a change from part time to full time, newborns, new spouses, etc.
  • Terminated employees
  • Any employee, spouse or dependent who loses coverage for any reason such as entitlement to Medicare, retirement, works hours drop below minimum required for benefits, a dependent reaches the maximum age, divorce, legal, separation or death
  • Any employee still employed but dropping coverage
  • Any spouse or dependent that disenrolls from coverage

A confirmation will be emailed to the employer confirming receipt. Subsequently, if the person elects COBRA, the insurance company will be notified to reinstate coverage; the employer will be notified of the reinstatement via email.

*COBRA and HIPAA administration is provided by COBRA Administration and Health Services, Inc. (CAHS) under the Choice COBRA brand name. The service contract for these services is between the employer and CAHS.
